this great blue heron was lingering in Nebraska in December, which some do. Not all birds migrate, and not all of a species migrate. She looks hunkered down in the top photo, and was hunting for fish in the last three photos. Just a skim of ice in some parts of the pond, but she didn't attempt to strike. I'm guessing she went hungry that day.
